Om or AUM is not just a sound or a word , but a vibration of the whole Universe.
It is a frequency of energy that connects and joins the entire universe
together. OM is not just O and M but it is a vibration that lingers and flows like energy itself.-This mantra is considered to have high spiritual and creative power.
-This mantra is both a sound and a symbol rich in meaning and depth.When pronounced correctly it is actually AUM.
The frequency of Om is exactly the same as the frequency of earth’s rotation around its own axis. So, in some sense, earth is saying Om.
Om represents everything - the beginning, the middle and the end, the past, the present and the future.
It encompasses all sounds - mankind, nature, machinery.

*U stands for Preservation - Lord Vishnu.
*And finally M stands for Destruction or dissolution - Lord Shiva.

Sacred Sound - "AUM":
Aum is the sound of infinite. Aum is said to be the essence of all mantras and Vedas, the highest of all mantras or divine word.
By sound and form, AUM symbolizes the infinite Brahman and the entire universe.
- AUM is considered to be the basic sound and all other sounds are contained in it.
- It has been observed that all human babies utter sounds like Om, am, im, hum, etc.
- Many scholars like Roman Jakobson and Morris Hall have made a detailed study of utterances of human babies.
- AUM or OM is believed to be the most ancient cosmic sound and a sacred representative symbol described in religious texts like the Upanishads and Vedas. These religious texts regard this to be identical with The Absolute which is The Ultimate Reality or the Brahman (or Brahma).
In other religion :
Meditation is practised by all religions in some way or the other as says John Paul Caponigro. Variations of ‘AUM” are believed to be found in other religions too. Amen is said in Judaic and Christian prayers.
In Islam, a phonetically similar word “Ameen” is used. ‘AHUM’ of Zoroastrianism is also like AUM.
